My friend over at
My Foil Hat has alerted me to something pretty cool! College Text Book rentals! There were two sites that I found:
Book Renter and
Chegg. They both rent college texts and costs vary. My son looked up his Economics text for his Game Theory class and found that the used books at the university were pretty close to the rental price on one of these sites. It's a very specialized course so I am not surprised. He also looked up his text for his Econometrics class and found that renting was MUCH cheaper! Econometrics is a pretty popular and important class for both economics and finance majors.
My thought is that the more mainstream the course the cheaper the rental book may be. Just a thought.
I am not endorsing either of these places since I have never used them myself and I don't know anyone who has used them. The prices sure beat buying the text at the college bookstore! For parents of students who have not been to college yet, text books will give you sticker shock! MOST texts will run over $100! Multiply that by 4 courses for a full load and you already have your sticker shock!
Thanks, Amy, for the information!
