The Weather and Parents

OK I know that it is futile to complain about the weather. Really, there's nothing I can do about it. BUT holy cow it has been hot here! You may notice that I am in Florida which is "supposed" to be hot, but it has been unseasonably hot this week. Makes me cranky. I enjoy the really warm weather we get here and I can't live without the sunshine at all! If we have several cloudy and rainy days in a row I go nuts! (more nuts than usual!)

Yesterday evening we had a fantastic storm which is one plus for really hot weather. Our west coast sea breeze meets up with our east coast sea breeze and KABLAM, you get an amazing set of thunderstorms! The lightning was coming at a fast pace and even our electricity "belched" a few times. Mother Nature's entertainment!

I called my parents, who live about 30 minutes away in South Orlando to ask if they were getting the storm. Now I was watching the local news which was covering the storms pretty much non-stop. Several of the storms had rotation in them so we were on the lookout for tornadoes.
Me: Dad, are you getting the storm?
Dad: What storm? It looks fine... oh wait, I think we are getting some rain.
Me: I am watching it on Channel 13 (local Bright House news channel) and it is heading your way.
Dad: Which way are the storms moving?
Me: Heading southwest
Dad: NO, it looks fine out there (looking northeast, where the storm is coming from)
Me: Dad, I can see it on the radar, it is heading right for you!
Dad: No, it is going around us...
Me: No, it is right at Interstate 4 (which is a couple miles from them)
Dad: NO, we are not going to get it...

Flash forward to this morning,
Me: Did you finally get that storm?
Dad: Oh a little bit
Mom: The electricity went off and on...

Duh, um, yeah you got the storm. But he won't admit that I was correct. For goodness sakes I am 50 years old and know how to read a weather radar map. Sigh. My parents are 80 and my dad HAS to be correct. Period. Oh and an idea is never any good, unless he thought of it.

I know this is just the generation. I am sure many people have the same parents that I do! :)

Know what? I would not trade them for anything! I will be very sad when I can no longer argue with them!
