Well I have injured my shoulder. "fun"
The shoulder has been hurting on and off for a while starting with certain moves with free weights. Started out that I could no longer do rows with the weights. Then other exercises started hurting as well until I was left with nothing for the upper body at all. I decided I had better see a doctor. Physical therapy has helped some but I am still in pain from my shoulder blade, up around the shoulder, then up my neck into a headache. I just love headaches. sigh
The doctor has ordered an MRI and for a claustrophobic like me, that is killer! Luckily there will be Valium. The whole thing will take about two hours although I will be in the machine for about half an hour, out again for a dye injection, then back in for the shoulder. We shall see what I can take. I figure that my main concern right now is the cervical spine, and if that gets done the shoulder may have to wait until I can screw up my courage and do it again! As long as I know one way or another if I have a herniated disc in my neck, then the shoulder may wait. Physical therapy should help.
Typing for long periods irritates the stupid shoulder so I have not been keeping up with the blog as much as I would like to!
I'll be back soon with more education posts!!
OK after looking for pictures of the exact MRI machine I will be in, I discover this photo. That guy looks to outweigh me by quite a bit and it doesn't look that bad! I am a total weenie!
You're not a weenie. Seriously. And not alone in being claustrophobic.
ReplyDeletePhobias, by their very nature defy common sense and rationality.
Valium will be very helpful for you, I know it.
Sorry you're feeling crummy... I understand shoulder pain pretty well these days.
