I came across this article which seems so absurd to me that I just can't wrap my head around the idiocy. A six year old brings his new set of fork, spoon and KNIFE that he recently got for a Boy Scout camping trip to school so he could use them for lunch. Boy gets expelled with the options of REFORM school for 45 days or home school. What the hell is wrong with these people? I mean, come ON, take it away until the end of the school day, or better yet, have Mom come in to pick it up and get "the lecture" about zero tolerance. But REFORM school for a six-year-old? Does anyone else think that MAYBE that would be a far worse option?
One of the saddest things about this case is that the parents want to PUT HIM BACK IN SCHOOL! They are petitioning the school to take him back. Sigh. They are already homeschooling the child rather than reform school but to want to send him BACK? I cannot even imagine what his "permanent record" will look like. Also, he will always be "that kid" who was expelled for a KNIFE! Don't they realize that this will follow him throughout his school career?
These parents need to think long and hard about having that little incident hanging over his head. Could this impact college admissions? Seriously he would be "that kid" who brought a KNIFE to school. Home schooling him the rest of the way through would give them the opportunity to erase this.

It's a Fork, It's a Spoon, It's a ... Weapon? This is just my opinion and I do NOT know the homeschooling laws in Delaware.
